Skira Island Overview

Little is known about the overall content of the island where the conflict in OFP2 will take place. What is known is that the island is named Skira Island
it boasts 220 km² of terrain (not including sea) with a wide range of terrain types Includeing but not limited to

  • Swamps
  • Grasslands
  • Forests
  • Rocky Mountains
  • Crumbling soviet era architecture

The island is based off of Kriska island which is a island in the Rat Islands group of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. The island has recivied a terrian overhaul that is more suiting it it’s new location off the coast of Japan. It has been placed in a chain of islands called the scarlet islands and given the following backstory:

“This Island has a turbulent history of being liberated, First owned by China, taken by Japan and liberated by Russia in World War Two, and now is prized as the largest oil reserve in the world”

There is a fair chance of russian spesznats making a notiable appearance on the island.

It Takes in real time:

  • 4 and a half hours to walk across the island
  • 2 hours in a reasonably fast jeep.
  • or in the fastest aircraft 20 minutes to fly

The Research and Design team was sent to the island to collect photos and document the island. There are high density forest with more ground clutter (bushes, logs, low grass, rocks) as compared to OFP1.

Nothing on the island has been created by mission designers or level designers. All places are real places taken for another island and transposed on Skira island.

The aim of this world is to provide free flowing (non funnelled) tactics and strategy; As well to allow the player to feel more in engaged knowing these places exist.
