PCGAMER November 2009 – Front Cover Advertisement

Hi all,

As you may know, if you follow my twitter, I found a advisement stuck to my subscriber copy of PC Gamer. Due to some website issues I could post a news article but have been keeping great updates though twitter and the mailing list. It took me a bit of time but I got access to a scanner, previously I was limited to 4MP webcam pictures. Now the scans have been uploaded for you to enjoy.

Cheers,

Understanding the problem on official forums.

As a leading fansite of the game this issue has not gone unnoticed by the staff here. I (Sir. Polaris) has spoken many of times out on this subject and offered many viable options to correct the issues we face.

This issue however still remains and still confuses some people. I get asked too often “why is this happening?”. As a result I have created this flowchart. It’s aim is to help create a understanding on a fairly complex issue. This issue which is a root problem in the larger issue of the degeneration of the forums.

This, combined with a review of my previous postings should give a soild understanding of the issue and what steps you can help take to avoid being a part of the problem and to correct the issues we have now. It should also bring awareness to why saying “lets just forget about it”, wont do any good.

I am now Twitter enabled

After a long time avoiding it I finally gave into it’s mass media usefulness. I think it would be nice to have a central area other then facebook which is far to crowded with minigames and toys then really what it should have been. Twitter to me is facebook minus everything but status updates. The #1 reason I joined is mail chimp keeps hounding me to update my facebook and twitter with each e-mail I send. I figured, “hell here is another way I can keep you guys in the loop” – It doesn’t hurt me any, and provides yet another benefit to those whom may be one of the 1,000,000 twitter users. So from now on I will be posting as soon as a e-mail goes out a tweet on the news update.

That and any other cool things I’m doing I’ll post as tweets, things I can’t make a post for or are away from IRC for.

I think in the end I am going to focus on making twitter a place for personal fans, unrelated to OFP2 but people whom just like me. I wouldn’t mind making some good buddies I can carry over into the future. I don’t know how long the media angle will last until it becomes spammy. I don’t know (never used twitter before) so we will see :D
