Revelations

In the last few days those who have been following the media closely. They Have seen some very disparaging videos and messages about “what is confirmed” for OFP:DR. Recently was annouced another revelation as it’s is also a some what a news update I have posted them below.

Firstly, it is the EPAC release date and not the North American release date represents Canada. Meaning North American release countdowns are for The USA and Mexico.

Adi: Does that mean that the tether is only for co-op or can you add or remove it in the mission editor?
Helios: The tether is only for single missions played in co-op. If you are creating your own MP map area in the editor then the editor restricts you to a maximum map area, this is why no tether is required.
DrToker: Now everyone has the answer if we can use the entire island in MP. NoNoNoNoNoNoNoNoNo… It’s restricted to an area… Invisible wall.
Helios: Even if we could allow it, would you really want to use the entire island in PVP for 32 players though? It’s huuuuuuge. It’s not an invisible wall though, it will first warn you if you are exiting the designated play area, and if you continue your character will be killed off.
Myself: Grrrr fkkkkk….. Did Helios just say, the whole island is not playable all at once? We are limited to a “playable zone” when we make zones of play.
Helios: For MP PVP yes, in user created co-op missions though you are free to use the whole of the map to create your mission.

Helios: I will answer about modding when I can speak to the dev team members who would know about this, unfortunately the people I need to speak to are either on holiday or in North America on a press tour.Obviously we anticipate the PC crowd will be modding and tweaking the game and that is why we created the modding sub-forum, so that people can share ideas regarding this and also how certain things can be accomplished, however with regards mod tools and if any are going to be released at launch or any time in the future, I do not know.

Like I said though, as soon as the people who do know are back in the office I will try and find an answer.

Please understand as well that reading these forums whilst an important part of my job is by no means the full extent of it, and that there will be times when I am unable to post for periods of time.

NeecHMonkeY: Imagine the amount of animations needed to portray entering and exiting from every different vehicle in the game…Tanks, APCs, Humvees, Helicopters, Civi cars, etc.It’s a lot of really unnecessary drag on the game engine that could be utilized in other more important areas of the game. Codemasters may have originally had the intention of showing the animations but they obviously had to make a compromise in favor of actual gameplay

This is more or less the answer, and it wasn’t a case of us intentionally trying to deceive people. Sometimes during the course development some things originally intended to be in the game have to be amended or removed in order to preserve more important aspects of the game. Its frustrating not only for the community, but also for the dev team who took the time to motion capture all of the animations.

Also, as some people have pointed out, there are gameplay considerations to having 2-3 second animations for entering and exiting a vehicle that needed to be taken on board.

Game will be fully localised with both French voice and text.

The PC has numerous options for graphical settings, and I’m currently in the process of getting some screengrabs to show you what you can change. With regards your MP question I’m afraid I don’t know and it’s something that I’d need to ask the lead artist when he gets back from holiday.
