A video first look at Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Co-op
Posted a few hours ago was the first look video at Co-op Gameplay. It is a excerpt from the longer GameStar.de video and no one in the community seems to have access to. This video is two minutes long, the full version can be found here (pending you have a premium account): Gamestar.de – The video shows combat assaulting a small unwalled base in tall grass. The overall impression from the comments has so far been fairly negative. This video shows medic healing, weapon sway and artillery call in. There has been some screen grabs photos uploaded as well and they are found below.

Stuff.co.nz OFP:DR Preview
Stuff.co.nz has released an OFP:DR Preview, it can be read here.
In the preview, the journalists play the radar mission one that is already played by an high amount of game journalists.
According to the previewers, Nature is the true star in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. The sounds sounds very realistic and convincing, and, even while the version their played is still a beta, the sounds already sound like it’s a final version of the game.
The article closes down with:
“A Gears of War or Killzone clone it is not. For PC owners, the real question here will be whether the numerous fans of the original can be convinced to put down ArmA 2 and sacrifice a bit of realism for something a little less intense.”
The article is located here.

GamesCom informant on standby get your questions in
We just received word from a Citizen Kained that he is a exhibition stand designer and im on a job at Gamescom in Koln. He tell us about him self and follows into “So, if you have a question or want vid footage of something I can probably get it. I only have my nokia N95 here so footage may not be too good”. Heres your opportunity to get your questions out. He then goes on to tell us about the game
“The game itself is very slick, the aiming / firing feels like youve got to be quite accurate and doesnt feel arcadey at all… however it does feel more fun than ARMA and a quicker pace. They only have the single player mode here but overall I think its something to get excited about.”

Devastating blow to Consoles – No Mission Editor on the Console.
Just confirmed by Helios, there will be no mission editor for creating and swapping missions for console OFP2.
Hi everyone,
I can confirm that there will be no mission editor for creating and swapping missions for console versions of the game.
The PC version however will have a mission editor allowing people to create their own missions. We’ll bring you plenty of information on this feature as development progresses.
If this changes in any way I will of course let you know.

Possible Removal of Console Map Editor – Play3
In the last 12 hours a 12 page thread has surfaced on the Operation Flashpoint forums, filled with feelings and speculation over a article found today.
The article states:
Brant Nicholas: Unfortunately we have to cancel the Mission Editor for console and we have to reduce the PvP number from 32 to 16. Furthermore some GFX features doesn’t exist. No further difference so far…
This coming from the original German of:
Brant Nicholas: Auf Konsole mussten wir leider den Missions-Editor herausnehmen und die maximale Spielerzahl im Online-Versus-Modus von 32 auf 16 Spieler heruntersetzen. Zudem fehlen ein paar PC-typische Grafikoptionen. Darüber hinaus gibt es aber keine weiteren Unterschiede oder gar Abstriche.
Source: Play3
We at OperaionFlashpoint2.org, don’t believe in ungrounded speculation. We will monitor the thread and update this post as new information arises. We are expecting a response from Helios tomorrow.
### UPDATE ###
It’s been confirmed that there is no, editor for the console.

New Preview from Videogamer.com
Helios brought us a hands-on from Videogamer.com, it’s got new information on the command layout as well as in depth information on the level of simulation present in the game.
This level of detail can be found throughout Operation Flashpoint 2, from the 100 per cent accurate reload animations to the fact that each weapon and ammunition type has a different penetration value – in other words, high calibre bullets will pass through certain kinds of armour and cover. -Neon Kelly, Article writer
The article does a lot of comparisons between ArmA2 and Dragon Rising, and says that the games look extremely similar as far as simulation and realism dedication go. Although, the writer leans to wards Dragon Rising as the better title.
Furthermore, I suspect that Operation Flashpoint 2 may be the slicker of the two products. Even at this early stage of development, there’s a certain kind of confident presentation here that ArmA 2 lacks. The graphics are a little more stylized, and even though the build I played used a lot of placeholder audio, the vocal work sounded emotive and high quality. Codemasters has a lot more experience than Bohemia when it comes to dealing with a wide gaming audience, and it’s made some wise moves. -Neon Kelly, Article writer
