OFP:DR Fansite Kit: Mrk4 – Out Now
Whats in it:
* 200 Files and 73 Folders
* 71.0 MB unpacked | 50.9 MB Packed [.ZIP]
* Community Made Content
– Avatars
– Fan Art
– Over 15 Cutouts, including PSD’s Like the Soldier Cutout PSD as Seen here:
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7…loadxn5.th.jpg
* Important Links
* The Operation Flashpoint Logo PSD
* The OFP Font
* All the Official Images
* All the rare photos I could find.
* A Clean cut wallpaper, in 3 styles for every screen format.
– OFP Gray
– White
– Black
* Some Website images (borrowed from the CSS of this forum)
* A YouTube PSD Template
* Links and Website building content.
and much more!
It took some time to collect, find and make the content but I wanted to make somthing to give out to the community to help it grow. I plan to keep working on it, but the Devs are also doing a Fansite kit and I didn’t want them to duplicate the work needed. So I made a early release.
Everyone’s (minus a few personal and questionable ones) avatars and image submissions have been added and accredited. There was a lot of submissions quality – The Images are great for other forums and instant messaging clients. 87 Avatars in total.
Hopefully this helps out!
Have fun on you fan related endeavours,
– Sir. Polaris

OFP: DR opens Xfire Group
To help promote the new game OFP: DR has opened up a agreement with xfire to make a promotion social group. To kick it off they are having a large video contest to show off xfire services while promoting the game though a large creation of media.
Since 2008-08-17 – I have be providing the Operation Flashpoint’s Official Forum’s Community Group. I was wondering why CM was not supportive of the idea when I approached them in the past about mass marketing for free though xfire. Suffice to say CM has finally got down to some basic marketing, and it’s good on them.
Our social group will continue to operate it will be much more moderated for trolls and spammers then the Xfire supported group. As well it’s restricted to community members only so, you have less random “will game have guns? cexk out my pixs!” messages in your IM. We are also planning a week of gaming, and it will involve spamming xfire with images and photos. I cannot offer a gaming rig as a prize but fame and glory and perhaps some swag might help.
Regardless check it out :

OFP:DR News Updates for Morning Aug/17/09
DEMO DELAYED
Just in from Helios is the announcement that the Demo is going to be “delayed”. Now only PC users post release will get a demo. It was noted this was done to improve quality of there final demo presentation.
[Helios]
Whilst we had originally planned to release a demo prior to launch, these plans have now had to be changed. The demo plans now are that we will now be releasing a single player and co-op demo on PC only post launch of the full game.
The main factor in this decision is to ensure that the full game gets 100% focus and attention before it’s released. We know how long many of you have waited for this game, and we want it to be as polished as it can possibly be for your enjoyment, and this is why the demo has had to be pushed back.
Readmore and comment at source.
Preview – Gamespot Updated MP Hands-On
Flanking the new video is a preview of the MP of OFP:DR. At a quick glance at the preview reads alot of CM’s marketing so use your judgment when reading, it seem alot of “hype”.
[Helios]
Just posted up now, and after reading the article it appears to be based on the console versions, though of course it is entirely possible to play 4v4 with AI teammates on the PC as well
http://us.gamespot.com/xbox360/actio…&mode=previews
“Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is about as far from run-and-gun action as you can imagine, and that slower pace will require a measure of patience on behalf of the player who will need to front-load lots of planning into a level before the bullets start flying. Those with a head for strategy, heads up: Dragon Rising is set for deployment on October 6.”

New multiplayer video
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that the Multiplayer PVP video is due for release later today on Gamespot. It’s being uploaded by the US side of the site though, so if you are located in Europe you can expect it sometime late at night (Weds)/Early Morning (Thurs). I’m afraid I can’t really be more specific regarding what time Gamespot are going to upload it so my apologies for that.
Our US team will be making a post on Facebook when the video has been uploaded so make sure to keep an eye out for their update.
The video is also due for release tomorrow from 10am (UK Time) on www.flashpointgame.com
We also have a new multiplayer screengrab for viewers here:

CM to attend I36 – No OFP2 present
Codemasters will be at this years I-Series. There will be unfortunately no Operation Flashpoint 2 present. Helios however will be there and enslaved to “FUEL UP” gamers with slushies.
There is a reward for anyone whom can acquire a picture of Helios giving out slushies. There is also a general recommendation for people to go and camp out the CM I-booth and shout obscenities.
If anyone is going please remember to take pictures and post them on the forum, so the best ones can be uploaded to Flickr.

OFP2 forums receives new ‘US Community Officer’
Here at OperationFlashpoint2.org we have discovered that there’s a new US Officer by the name of DefenderOne in town.
A Community Officer is a Codemasters employee that provides a level of connection from the CM office workers/developers to the people on the ground in the communities Codemasters runs.
Currently his account is idle, he/she has not spoke since his account was discovered. We are waiting for a formal announcement of his arrival from Helios. We expect that this public announcement will happen on Monday and provide our first look on this new ‘Officer’.
We wish DefenderOne a good time on the OFP2 forums, and we are sure he/she will make a fine addition to the collective team at Codemasters and on the forums. We look forward to working in hand with Defender as we do with Helios.

Devastating blow to Consoles – No Mission Editor on the Console.
Just confirmed by Helios, there will be no mission editor for creating and swapping missions for console OFP2.
Hi everyone,
I can confirm that there will be no mission editor for creating and swapping missions for console versions of the game.
The PC version however will have a mission editor allowing people to create their own missions. We’ll bring you plenty of information on this feature as development progresses.
If this changes in any way I will of course let you know.

OFP2 Tube Account Suspended
We finally did it, we collected so much content, and became so popular, so quickly that YouTube has put the brakes on us. Currently the OFP2 and all its videos and playlists are suspended for a unknown amount of time.’
To me it looks like I have hit an “You have had so many IP warnings” trigger, that leads to a suspension. The one to push us over was IDG Entertainment Media GmbH – Makers of GameStar/GamePro. Either that or the claim caused a review of the account and they figured we never got permission for any of the content. The second is unlikely as it can trigger legal backlash.
As well if anyone be down the road of removing a suspension on a YouTube account, or good ideas post them here.

Official OFP2 Website online
Exciting news!
After a long wait I’m now proud to be able to let you all know that the brand new Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising website is due to go live at some point today.
The new website will replace the old site found at www.flashpointgame.com, so no need to change your bookmarks.
Personally if I head to www.flashpointgame.com I can see the new website, but I’ve been told that it may take some time to propogate across the internet, so don’t fret too much if you can’t see it yet!
If you do happen to notice any errors or bugs on the site, then please let us know in this forum thread and we’ll do our best to fix/correct them. If you could also let us know in what country you are viewing the site that would help a lot as well!

USMC & PLA Camo Update
Released by Helios shortly ago.
“After concerns were raised by numerous members of the community that the USMC troops had incorrectly coloured Modular Tactical Vest’s, the development team have amended the colour to brown to reflect what is currently in use by the USMC.
We have decided to keep the USMC Spec Ops MTV’s as green, to provide some distinction between them and regular USMC troops.

Freelook and TrackIR clarification
From Helios,
——–
First of all, my apologies for the confusion this may have caused.
After speaking to the dev team, I’ve had something clarified to me that invalidates what I said earlier about the definitive no freelook and no TrackIR statement.
It turns out that whilst there is no freelook and no TrackIR for infantry, these features will be available for vehicles.
So to summarize:
- Infantry – No Freelook for all platforms, No TrackIR
- Vehicles – Freelook supported for all platforms for pilot, driver, commander, passenger etc, TrackIR supported

OFP2 Toolbar Review
This review is for the latest update of the OFP2 toolbar,
At first glance the original toolbar was quite plain but it did serve it’s purpose well, now the toolbar has finally been updated with a much better look with small tabs provided by Marxus and Sir. Polaris. On the far left of the page there should be showing Social pgs next to this there is a small dropdown box which then shows you all of the Social services for the flashpoint community.
Also there is a dropdown box on main links which then reveals all of the major community services that the community themselves have provided to the player base of operation flashpoint. The first link on the dropdown menu will provide you with a quick jump system to each main area of the forums and next you will find a group of locations which contain alot of information that can aid you with knowledge about the game itself. (Flickr, mailing system etc…)
The next section contains the community run pages such as OFP2.info and this page, also the last section has a link to the community server thread on the flashpoint forum. Finally much like the previous there is also a bar showing the most recent threads created/commented on in the flashpoint forum which provides you with a easy quick travel system to the most recent threads
If you wish to download the toolbar itself you can find it here.

New PC Zone 4 Page Preview Released
Today we where informed by Helios about a new important article from PC Zone UK. The article has been released in shops in the UK. We are currently waiting on a Hero to acquire a copy of the recently published July issue PC Zone UK. From first responses this article seems that it may be one of the most important of the previews so far. We will keep you updated of any major developments. If scans are found they will be uploaded to the community areas (Flickr, ScribD) and you will receive a email shortly there after.
** UPDATE **
Posted moments ago by Shaz73, “Phone Camera” pictures of the PCZone 4 page article. As a added bonus a Xbox Mag was also photographed. They are viewable here. When better versions come around they will be added to ScribD and Flickr, the quality is too low for these to be them be any use as the archived copy.
** UPDATE **
We have now received master scanned copies thanks to Hero tot brill. They have been uploaded page by page to Flickr. As well the ScribD PDF version is viewable below.

All New Video And Interview featuring Sion Lenton From IGN.
Today has seen a very quiet and mild activity within the OFP: DR Forum Community, Why you ask?
Early this morning a member of the community figaRo, informed us to a possibility along with Helios’s posts last week that there maybe New Previews, Interviews And Videos coming to us shortly.
We can satisfyingly confirm these statements thanks to IGN’s New Video And Interview released moments ago.
The Video boasts all new, never seen in-game explosive material named “Ground Battle”. The Interview featuring Sion Lenton, Codemasters executive producer boasts a good set of Questions and Answers.
Although these new media articles are released to much hype and debate, a unique feature to this video is the possibility of a pushed back release date. At the end of this video a release date of Autumn 2009 is displayed.

New DUTCH video about OFP: DR
Found by Devonner, a very nice walkthrough of CM HQ and the working area for OFP2.
In the video, JJ and Jelle who are Dutch game journalist from gamekings.tv head to the Codemaster’s studio in Birmingham. In the first part of the movie, they talk about the studio itself.
The video also provides a nice inside look in the developing studio at [08:30-9:10]. With a suiting ending in CM’s Bar we get their opinion about the game:
“Although the game isn’t finished yet, it looks very promising to us, and we will definitely buy it”

New Pre-Render Video
(Either JavaScript is not active or you are using an old version of Adobe Flash Player. Please install the newest Flash Player.)
Today, a new pre-rendered concept video surfaced on YouTube. The video, uploaded today (31 March, 2009) shows a soldier (presumably a Marine) carrying an Assault Rifle over a mountainous environment. It also features concepts of both the team command interface, as well as calling in fire support and using a laser range finder/binocular set. Although it is most certainly a pre-render/CGI combination released some time ago (note the old CodeMasters OFP2 logo), it is surely impressive and worth the view. We can only hope OFP2 comes close to this concept video.

Helios notes more Editor infomation in the future
Moments ago Helios stated the following:
[in regards to the map editor] I have an inkling it was said somewhere previously that it is essentially the same tool that the designers are using to create the missions in the game.
We’ve got plenty more info releases regarding the PC mission editor planned for the future, so I’m confident most of your questions will be answered before the game is out.
He also responded to a members question regarding the editor.
So that means we have the tools to create missions as good as or perhaps even better than the ones that are already installed on the game.
Wow now that is a very appealing feature. I wonder if it will be possible for the community to create and share missions with each other? What I mean is say Helios for example created a cool mission could he upload the mission to the internet so that others could download and play that same mission?
If you’ve got the time and the ability then I’m sure it’s a possibility, we do have some very good level/mission designers working on the game of course though.
We’ve also got some exciting plans lined up regarding how the community will be able to share and distribute all the user created content.

New Preview from Videogamer.com
Helios brought us a hands-on from Videogamer.com, it’s got new information on the command layout as well as in depth information on the level of simulation present in the game.
This level of detail can be found throughout Operation Flashpoint 2, from the 100 per cent accurate reload animations to the fact that each weapon and ammunition type has a different penetration value – in other words, high calibre bullets will pass through certain kinds of armour and cover. -Neon Kelly, Article writer
The article does a lot of comparisons between ArmA2 and Dragon Rising, and says that the games look extremely similar as far as simulation and realism dedication go. Although, the writer leans to wards Dragon Rising as the better title.
Furthermore, I suspect that Operation Flashpoint 2 may be the slicker of the two products. Even at this early stage of development, there’s a certain kind of confident presentation here that ArmA 2 lacks. The graphics are a little more stylized, and even though the build I played used a lot of placeholder audio, the vocal work sounded emotive and high quality. Codemasters has a lot more experience than Bohemia when it comes to dealing with a wide gaming audience, and it’s made some wise moves. -Neon Kelly, Article writer

Helios on Swimming/Jumping
As posted by Helios today:
Hi all,
I remember recently a few people have asked about jumping and swimming in the game, so I just thought I’d share a few details regarding these actions, and whether they will be in the game or not.
There isn’t a jump button in the game, but there is an “interact” button which allows you to do things such as vault over small obstacles, open doors etc.
As for swimming, I’ve been told that this is possible and if you really wanted to you’ll actually be able to swim around the whole of Skira island. Bit mental perhaps, but it’s nice to know you’ll have the option
The swimming (which is actually more like treading water whilst moving in one direction) will only be at surface level though and you won’t be able to dive below the surface. I’m sure you will agree that with all your gear this probably wouldn’t be very realistic anyway?
It is important to note that is now confirms that we will now be able to tread water (much like ARMA, no FarCry2 sidestep swimming) as well this confirms that there is no designated jump button, so there should be no bunny hopping. It is possible however that this interactive button is always active and the default action is jump. However this is good news and a good step forward for OFP2.

Feedback From Helios about the PC Gamer article and other FAQ
Due to some backlash by concerned members of the OFP2 community. Helios has made some postings to clarify what was written in the recent PC Gamer UK article. Addressing one of the biggest concerns mentioned – that of: regular squad mates being able to ‘revive’ [see: heal] and repair.
@ PC Gamers “Squad Mates can Revive” and medical/repair system
“Right everyone,
Just to clear things up for you, here is a basic run-down.
There is a medic class in the game, however every soldier carries basic field dressings that can be used by any soldier to stem bleeding, however field dressings do not ‘heal’ injuries. Also, it is not possible to resurrect dead soldiers in the field.
With regards the repairing vehicles I’ll just reiterate what I posted earlier which is that any soldier can fix a flat tire but they cannot for instance put the rotors back onto the burning shell of a chopper as that wouldn’t be very realistic.
Oh, one more thing….limb loss is fatal. ”
“… Limb loss [is, in regards to] catastrophic damage
You’ll be seeing plenty of shot up people crawling around in OFP: DR of that I can assure you”
@ Fixed Wing Aircraft
“Right everyone,
I’m finally able to confirm to you that fixed wing aircraft aircraft will not be in the game. ”
Source: Playable Fixed-Wing Aircraft
@ Demo
“Exact details TBC”
@ Achievements and trophies.
“Just so you know, its required by Microsoft that you put a certain amount of achievements into an Xbox 360 game so that the points total 1,000.”
Which means there will be on the 360 some from of achievement system.
@ Weapon/Vehicle Unlocks in OFP: DR
“I’ve noticed quite a few threads regarding whether OFP: DR will be having a weapon/vehicle unlock system like COD4, where if you rank up in MP you get the choice of new weapons/perks to use.
I just want to confirm that this won’t be the case for OFP: DR and that there will be no unlocks.”

Codemasters on Promotion Tour in Germany 10/08/09
Unfortunantely we can only currently get our hands on a google translated version of the codemasters promotion tour in germany, later we may update a fully translated version for you to read.
On 21.07.09 Codemasters invited to Munich. Christian Szymanski (Product Manager OFP: DR) and Tim Browne (Lead Games Designer OFP: DR) were on promotion tour and wanted to Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising of the German press imagine. The presentation should clock at 14:00 on the grounds pathos of the theater will take place. Despite my almost two hour “Check Buffer” I came because of the congestion in front of Munich, until the clock at 14:20. But we thought it might good to me. The idea had not yet begun.
After around a little over 5 minutes then it went even started. As first reported Christian Szymanski to speak. He explained the present press again what in OFP: DR code and how to master the island of Skira has come. I think I must not here all that again auftischen. After a few minutes over the word Christian to Tim Browne. Lucky way Tim speaks English a clean, one can understand him well. Tim told us that he had us about 3 weeks old computer code, brought his laptop to show wants. Additionally, stood in the hall but still 3 consoles (two XBOX360 and PS3), with a little 6 weeks old code around (ie, the E3 code). After the presentation, we should ourselves an overview can clean. Before Tim could go on, came the first question from the audience of a rather famous lady, a well-known print media, according to the minimum requirements. Tim pondered briefly and said he was not quite sure, but they would have roughly a 2 GHz Dual Core with 1 GB of Ram and at least a 7900 GT’s. Then he switches into his notebook DXDIAG to us his system specs to show. He had arrived with a T7400. So 2 x 2.33GHz, however, with 2 GB Ram and a mobile GeForce Go 7900 GTX.The minimum requirements and recommended system should look like in the rest (this information was material to the press that we are following the presentation on a Schnicke OFP: DR USB stick had received):
Minimum requirement
Operating system: Windows XP SP2 or later
Shader 3.0 (GeForce 7900 GT / 256 MB VRAM or higher), DirectX 9.0c
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
Memory: 1 GB
Hard disk: 8 GB
Dual Core CPU 2 x 2.4 GHz
DVD drive: Dual Layer DVD-ROMRecommended SystemOperating system: Windows XP SP2 or later
GPU: Shader 3.0 (GeForce 8800 GT / 512 MB VRAM or higher), DirectX 9.0c
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
Memory: 2 GB
Hard disk: 8 GB
CPU: Quad Core CPU
Dual Layer DVD-ROM DVD drive: Dual Layer DVD-ROMAccordingly Tim plays with a system that is below the minimum requirements, or they are simply not yet final. Anyway. Nun ging es los. Now it was happening. Tim invited the first mission, and ran only once a little rum, and showed the vegetation, a few weapons that he had. He told us that as the reload time to reload the weapon, the “original Times” meet. This is also true of the time, you need to move from its main gun at the secondary weapon (pistol) to change. In parallel, he showed us everything. And yes, already so adapted as it is. So, a little weitergeflitzt we could a few bold columns of smoke, which rose into the sky. I must say that this looked really amazing, Suddenly a lot to me that Tim and his system is only slightly above the minimum requirements and still had everything ran as smooth. In other games, you get the minimum requirements just once a slide show on the screen to see.
Then it went further into the field. A few words on their own AI and how they respond, followed. Funny, I go with my soldiers in the squat or put me out, makes my Fire team exactly after. I stand again, they are also on. Super, it saves you vast amounts of additional commands. Where we’re on the subject are command, we could take a look at the chic “Quick Command” menu throw. This works just great. And the best of my AI will do exactly what she says. And it immediately. Those who prefer to navigate over the map, you can do the same. simply on the card of their own soldiers mark, right click on the place where he should run and what he should do. I send it via “Move fast” like the right flank of me I can while he is running, the “target group” by holding down the mouse button on a new position, and then stop because he is running out. The last command he remembers. I must therefore not be extrapolated to him again “move fast” to say. Toll ! Toll!
Enough on the card played, back in the bush. After Tim was a little run, we had enemy contact. What immediately stands out: the shots in front of us or drive us apart, swirl a little dirt on. Also you get the acoustically well. If it’s very tight, it gets even a little dirt in front of the bib geknallt. That means you will get dirt splashes into his face (which of course, disappear again, but a great effect). This is also true hits. Is it a shot by the enemy that there is blood spatter on the screen in the field of vision to see.
Links at the bottom of the screen you see your soldier. Will by the arm as he turns to hit this figure in the red arm and a circular display fills up slowly. This means that it is bleeding and your miracles must provide. So, off into the cover and pouch SAN consider what each soldier with you. Thus, you can stop the bleeding (but not cure). So, association to the arm and back into battle. Now shows the detail amorousness. Invite your rifle after your example, you’ll see at your left hand dirt – and blood spatter. Not bad. Ok, now we want the Chinese, but let give pepper. Since he is ahead, fire! The enemy soldier goes to the ground and yells something in their own language around. He even writhes on the ground and to escape something around. Spirited …
Time for the thick stuff. Tim wants us to show Howitzer artillery attack. As it became clear that the code is still “Work in Progress” is. The position that Tim wanted to shoot at, moved a few seconds after the request, just the texture of healing after broken. No visual or audio impact, schade. He admitted that all this is still not quite finished. Because he is right, then further in the text.
Next went with it with a vehicle mission. We tried us as a passenger in a Hummer to go somewhere to let the AI driver drove but simply can not go. Lustig was then in the Außenansicht view that left us with a lobster filled with AI always traveled in a circle, whoops. Another jeep drove well but the street. Regardless, it is still “WiP”, so Tim went himself as drivers. Beautiful, that the player first aufmacht the door and not “ArmA like” jumps into the locked vehicle, I though. But happy too early, and there were no whole initial sequence / animation, but only “ArmA like” (ie, character sets, and half-way, “schwupp” and is sitting inside). Well, at least before he makes the door open.
I would like at this point yet again on the presentation by Clive Lindop at GC 2008 recall. There was a really chic animation to see how a soldier in a Hummer is rising. So, as I could see, the game is not quite as good. But here we have probably to wait for the final version.
Then Tim went off. Nothing earth. With interior view from the window. And yes, the “Free Look” is possible. So you can in the vehicle’s head spin. After 25 meters has felt it already “plop”, and we were hit by something heavy. Then there was the whole lobster cut, we are dead Retrying new Hummer. This time, Tim went not quite as far, but rose at a Hummer coming from the wreck (whether it was our wreck, or one of the AI, I can not say). But what I saw: The wreck was not quite so heady from. So the textures. It certainly fulfilled its purpose, but as I said, so the hammer was not. In return, I must say that I am up to this date not a single “LOD bug” could detect, so that vehicles in our neighborhood like a Bauklotz would look like, as we know from other games.
Now followed one of the things that interested me most. The editor is the hobbyhorse of PC users who need extra start in the game and not integrated. Equal one anticipated. The editor is super clear and tidy. Everything is super easy on the map to place, and as a player to define. What is good: You can have any of the soldiers on the map placed the look, voice and name. Then we looked again at the weather. Various settings such as night, evening, lunchtime. The evening settings associated with a cloudy sky saw echt klasse aus. Then just a flux UH60 Drag & Drop on the card and placed under the same load times and entered losgeflattert. Toller Sound, from the exterior view, back to the inside and a bit flown. Yes, you may consider it a good go. Ah yes, who would like to script, this can be directly in the editor with the LUA scripting language to do so. You need to not “ArmA like” back to the desktop and in an extra * init, * SQS or file change.
The cards invite the rest of it works: At the top of the screen is a kind of “Stop” and “Play” button. Do you want to test your map, it pushes the “play” button. Then comes OFP: DR “high” and invites your card. Then you are on the card and everything seems like just using Drag & Drop stored. Will you return to the editor, it minimizes the game with ALT + ESC and press the “Stop” button. Then all the current scripts (if you’ve defined what) stopped and you can continue to tinker.
Now came another question from the audience. Same lady, same print medium. As it announced with the DLS’s (ie downloading content) would look like and whether what they cost. As he smiled first, is probably not yet thought to question, he said. You are not yet quite sure how they want to do. Depending on the size of the DLC, such as cost. Codemasters wants to listen to us since. If we as the NATO troops want to have, we can get them. Yes even the German Army would be possible if the community wanted. New units such as this would cost money. Even as new campaigns. Smaller content such as weapons or vehicles are not necessarily inevitable. The first DLC for OFP: DR want to make any case for free. How many DLC’s then for OFP: DR still follow, or not, would not yet been determined.
Then we came slowly to the end of the performance. Round one hours, he showed us the content from the game and went very deep into details. A clean presentation. But now we should ourselves to the controller can clamp. Tim dismissed us to the buffet and the three standing ready consoles.
Finally, for the first time yourself! So, once I sat down to the first with the leather couch waiting XBOX360. The well-known from the E3 demo level was loaded and off you went. Well, not so easy. So PC users (who previously only used the keyboard and mouse) an XBOX controller to use, is not so simple. Bin times until a time rumgeeiert. After a few minutes then went already. Since I’m a little perfectionist, I am not crash like in the missions, but tried the promised features such as swimming, “Bullet Penetration” (ie, shoot through objects), to stained glass windows to shoot and so on, on the tooth to feel. Does everything! Bin with one of my AI guys in a village, into a house. Have him in a room temperature, then’m in the next room and there was the wall durchsiebt. Au ja, I would fire on their own units (oops). So, back in the other room, also there were in the rear wall off Einschußlöcher, clean! Now I wanted to go swimming times. On the way to the beach a lot to me from afar that the water somehow sterile looked like it did not move. After I was right on the beach, I saw that it is still moving. However, only very slightly, not as strong as in ArmA. Now, onto the cliff and down into the water. Splash. Go, I swim.
On my XBOX incidentally ran the game in the German format. German speech also. Hey cool, my boys even cursing in German, if you are wounded! The same also applies to the opponent, but then the curse in local languages, not bad. Our own work in other AI is already quite reliable. Was away, flanked. Good also: When you are out or squats is that you make your fire team, without him extra for that. Big plus. What now was not so great. We have worked with a hand grenade destroyed a small wooden house. It was only a smoke cloud, and as they moved, it was just a “skeleton” da. Nothing earth.
I had after the 2008 GC presentation just a little more expected. Clive Lindop told us there that every house destroyed several stages will have. Like in the final version will look like to be seen. But it fulfills its purpose well, so OK. Perhaps this was just the house is too small, maybe it’s different in bigger houses.
While we sat there and so zockten, Tim hopped from one interview to the next. The guy was simply not tangible. So there I spent 2 guys there I have a question with which they should Tim. The question of a “dedicated server”. Come with this release? Short at the end of the show were the two guys from the interview with Tim back. They told me that the dedicated server does not come with the release. Only later. The server files will not be masters of code itself, but from another company in the order programmed. With the release, we will own missions on servers http://www.quazal.com can host. Here, it is possible to play your own missions, private sessions to open them and friends lists. The reason Quazal advantage is that there is a eingbautes ACT (Anti-Cheat Tool) will take place.
Meanwhile, were almost all the guests away. I was one of the last. So quick to being Christian and Tim geflitzt and a souvenir photo shoot can be. Can I imagine? Here we are:
Shortly before going, there was still a bold surprise from for every Christian. Playable code of OFP: DR to go! So I took the code for the PC. There are two missions to play through. Also, the packed code and departure! Unfortunately, it is not possible for us pictures and videos directly from the playable code to show. But I still go in detail on the code. So just read more.
First impressions of the OFP: DR PC press code (Build: 1 July, 2009)
After another brief 5 hours, I arrived back at home. And then ran like nothing on the PC. DVD inside, OFPDR.exe start. Na whoops. Something I had not yet seen. A PC game, which is without install directly from DVD, and can immediately start running. But no matter immediately to the first mission and started to play. Well guys, at this point, I am bad because I have no details about the missions would like to tell you. The voltage should be kept so, gell? I would not have any Missonsabläufe write, because the whole still is not quite final. Included were two missions ( “Rissing Dragon” and “United we stand”). But what I do will make you a kind of feature list and to present an overall impression. Here is the first feature list with the points you might be interested:
General Overview:° An infantry and a SpecOps campaign° Total 11 missions (each with additional, optional sub-missions)° 66 weapons, 23 vehicles (land and sea), 6 helicopters (3xPLA, 3xUSMC)° There is Gore, so “meat lumps” when a large explosive charge detonated at a soldier (body parts, but you will not “shoot” you can)° OFP: DR than Multilanguage DVD (ie a single Uncut version is available on DVD, which in 5 different languages can be played)° The game uses the Havok physics engine° Voice over IP is supported° OFP: DR is the SECUROM use copy protection (so at least the press is protected DVD) Positive noticed:° it is Thermalview on night vision equipment for infantry type (looks great at night!)° Free Look inside vehicles is possible, albeit somewhat cumbersome° if you run too long you can hear even the pulse / heart rate (of course, will be slower)° noise change depending on the substrate (eg, pebbles on the beach, normal soil)° wanders a bush (or AI), there’s a Raschelgeräusch (thrills!)° You can use the Action button on almost every object rise / climb° Super Weapons Animations (assembling, loading eg Javelin, which is the hammer!)° columns of smoke and the sky look great, very well animated° The enemy AI heal each other (I thought spinne when I decided on an opponent, much to the ground, bent, because not yet dead, his mate came and healed him again)° If your AI is not as seriously injured, it can also heal yourself (it looks like the AI itself injects a syringe)° YOUR AI uses cover moving slowly through the APC and is covered in the “slipstream” to the opponents (krass)° It is parallel to the normal open doors also occur!° CI independently run by (freshly broken) house ruins and remains of wall uses as cover° CI can send in buildings and possibly open their own doors° time pressure is only partially within a Mission to milestones (E3 Demo Mission: the radar must be destroyed under pressure of time, then there are other primary and secondary objectives, where there are no time pressures, thereNegative noticed:° You can repair the vehicle (similar FarCry2, too easy)° tires can zerschießen (does not yet ride out WiP?)° “Leaning” there is (contrary to the statement of Helios, but you can not make myself. But I have my AI and AI opponents saw the Leaning to houses made Ecker)° “high resolution” cockpit textures in the PC version but nothing to see (a pity)° water surface animation is a little to be desired° Trees do not go broke, not even if you set a bomb underneath the tree lights (a shame, it was promised that hopefully will change as one more thing)° It is no harm if one feeds a fire (eg burning wreck)° It is its own feet in the 1st person view does not see (from the door so it gets a little strange, because one does not walk) Overall impression
Yes, this game has to have feathers. ABER: This game is already a pagan fun. When you consider that the game until October to come, it is amazing round. I did not have a performance drop, not a single LOD bug. Except for a few minor things (see: not destructible trees, impact on driving after tire weft) is the part of some very, very much better from the “feeling” that, as other products, in a supposedly “final / finished” state linger on my hard drive. Codemasters should have time available for meaningful use bugfixing will OFP: DR tactical shooter par excellence. And one more thing: when their time alone can see, as your soldier composed the Javelin or nachlädt, you will see who is closer to a semi-realistic tactical shooter is off. No trace of CoD or BF feeling. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, you can come!
Conclusion and additional information
As you’ve read above, the press event was held in Munich on 21.07.09 instead. A day earlier, there was also an event in Hambug, where our community manager Mukor and our partners from the ESL were present, the love Defender. It squeezed together with Mukor also some information from Tim out, I do not wish to deny.
° Because of the ACT (Anti-Cheat Tools), it will be on the JIP Quazal not give (ie, embarking in ongoing missions), it is called “Ur-OFP like” running sessions with waiting in the lobby ° If the dedicated server, then without the ACT (whether it then JIP there, we do not know) ° For Mapper / Scripter will find small tutorials and videos on the master page code ° For the time being it will release only 4 MP maps give (game are not known) ° Approximately one week after release it will be the first to DLC (free) which also contain maps (funny a day later in Munich were the details of the DLC is not so precise and concrete, see above)

10/08/09 Boomtown Interview
Although the actual interview seems to have a few inconsistencies regarding the current information we know. There is one part that has some new information regarding achievements.
Snippit
But there is an achievement for exploration in the game, but Tim is staying tight-lipped on that one.
“Even doing something like flying around the island could take ages. There is an achievement based around flying around something, but I’m not going to say what because I don’t want to spoil that, but that’s something you can achieve in about five minutes rather than nine hours. Because, if it took me nine and a half hours to do that, I would expect to get the full 1000 points, to be honest.”

23/07/09 – A.I. Commands
A new A.I. command has just been revealed by Helios, this new command is the ability to assault a building. At the minuite we only know that it is assault a building but it is likely to have multiple options. (Much like that of the artillery firing ability of barrage etc…)
So if this holds true we may see different types of assaulting an ability such as (Speculative) Stealthy assault etc…
The game has an “assault building” command that instructs your fireteam to enter and secure a building.

Community Banner Exchange
Hello there,
I’m trying out a system that will allow clans though a ad system, to advertise them selfs while being advertised on other websites. My aim is to create a mutual visibility system by tweaking a ad system. I am testing it out as of today, and are looking for submissions of clan banners of size (486 x 60) Static no .gifs. As well as first adopters to test how how this product will work. The first test run will go a week and if successful will expand to a larger system.

OFP2 Tool Bar
I have struggled with ideas to help promote the community content I have built and the wealth of information that goes unnoticed in the forums.
I was pondering zipping up my bookmarks in my link bar in firefox and mailing it out to people. Then it occurred to me I remembered a old website that produces tool bars for free (It makes it’s money on you using the google search).
So I re found that website and pounded out a tool bar with all the best links for OFP2.
It contains all the links to the OFP2 Group pages, A news Ticker, two hotlinks to OFP2.org and the Main Forums. As well as all the core OFP2 pages including IRC, Flickr, Tube the news feed. Also has a RSS feed viewer for the MessHall, OFP2.org and the General. It provides all the links I use day to day and I presume other people use.
This is just another way for me to help you get the most out of OFP2, so make the most of it. I’m going to keep track of downloads at http://operationflashpoint2.org and make adjustments to this tool bar over time.
One of the things I hope to add is if OFP2: DR supports join server via link – the community servers will be launch able via this toolbar. As well as a link to server information. So you can keep tabs on the servers while doing other things like searching the forums.

OFP2:DR – Fansite Kit – Mrk 3, Released
Reflecting the updated logo and new content, such as more community cutouts, I have updated the fansite kit and re uploaded it at a new low of 37.72mb.
The main reason for this small file size is due to the cross linking of online content. As you may know the OFP2 Tube and Flickr accounts hold a great wealth of information and content. In previous versions I included all the data I could in the fansite kit. It quickly became bloated with images that people may or may not have used. So for this build after hearing feedback from it’s users, iI have now only saved the most important images that relate directly to website, fansites and artists. The directory structure is for the most part the same, and holding the same content – just now linked to a online source.

OFP:DR wins Xfire clan of the month
It is with great pleasure that I announce that overnight (for North America), the Heroes of OFP2 (The Community Forum Group) won the Xfire Clan of the month.
This is a great achievement for OFP2, and the community behind it. My thanks thanks go to everyone who made this happen!
Also a thanks to Helios and the CM producer for the heads up,
View: Xfire’s Email announcement
View: Original Post that won it
Go to: The Xfire Group Page
I would like to remind everyone to keep promoting day to day. Don’t see this achievement as a end or a time to let up promoting community growth and development. A large strong Xfire benefits us all – it’s a great show of community power and strength. Not to mention a great tool for events, instant messaging and stat collection. It will also be the staging ground for the community servers and ingame events.
So keep it bookmarked. I’m working on getting a server inbound, I’m just trying to get enough ‘image’ to convince people to donate a $400 USD a month server to a gaming group.

Vehicle recording at 29 Palms with the USMC
Big update inbound, and many thanks to the OFP: DR sound team for taking the time to write these behind the scenes expose’s!
Naturally vehicles take a big part in OFP : DR so it was important to us to make them sound as true to life as we could. Where better to start than to go to the USMC and borrow some tanks then?
Several phone calls to the USMC Public Affairs Office later and we had a visit out to 29 Palms Range. Sadly we didn’t get to go on this trip and instead hired the very capable On Your Mark Music Productions field recording crew. Who were strangely more than a little keen to spend a week in the desert surrounded by some of the best military hardware available.
I hope that you enjoy the sounds of vehicles in OFP: DR, we spent a lot of time tracking down these sounds and recreating them in game. It was very important to us to get a an authentic sound to our vehicles that few games truly capture. The M1A1 Abrams used by the USMC has a unique sound due to its propulsion system.
Finally we have to give a much deserved thanks to these people, because without On Your Mark Music and the USMC we would have struggled to get anywhere near the same quality of vehicle audio for OFP: DR

3rd Community Screenshot Released
Hi all,
Another community exclusive screenshot for you all, following on nicely from the one posted on the 22nd. This screeny shows off the radial command system and some of the nice depth of field visual effects the game will have.
Later on this week I’ll also be making another behind the scenes update from our sound team and their vehicle recording session with the USMC at 29 Palms in California.
29 Palms is the home to the world’s largest Marine Corps Base. It is the premier training facility in the world for Marine operations and draws military personnel from all over the world for Combined Arms Exercises.
29 Palms is the premier live-fire base in the Marine Corps. Each year roughly one-third of the Fleet Marine Force and Marine Reserve units — some 50,000 Marines in all — participate in the base’s training exercise program. These training exercises involve every weapons system in the Marine Corps’ arsenal, from small arms to attack aircraft. They are absolutely essential to maintaining high levels of readiness of the U.S. Marine Corps to fight and defend U.S. National interests.

Just posted is a rough translation of a big preview from German print mag GameStar. This is apparently a hands on test on the PC.
Some major points:
- Development status of the game (estimation by Gamestar): 60 %
- OFP:DR will have 15 missions.
- There will be a timer, after a hit, which shows the TTL (Time to live)

Found today is another preview for OFP2. This review is similar to the previews seen thus far. Unique to this write up is a nice perspective that is clear of marketing and flowery writing. It speaks of urban combat and the more ‘arcade’ but dynamic nature of OFP2.

Eurogamer – Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Preview
This morning gaming website “Eurogamer” have posted up their Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising preview, revealing plenty of new information regarding how the game is going to turn out.
Here’s a few choice quotes from the article:
“One of the group playing discovers the implications of this all too clearly, as his bold plan to drive erratically at the enemy, shooting wildly, doesn’t go down very well with his AI team. “**** this ****!” shouts one, before retreating and leaving our hapless player to deal with the aftermath of his rash actions alone.”
“When we finally get to sit down and see the latest PC build, the wisdom of this two-pronged control scheme becomes clear. The quick-command menu is great for reacting to the battlefield on the fly, the available options changing to reflect whatever you’re looking at”
“There’s no doubt that it’s an impressive undertaking. After he’s spent some time scampering around this corner of the island, Lenton calls up the map and zooms out so we can see the scale of the place. The area he’d been playing in covers maybe one square centimetre in the lower-right-hand corner. It’s vast, and full of procedurally generated elements to boot. Smoke and dust lingers rather than fading away.”

Thanks to community member PhilipLarkin, A new Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising preview was found at www.thereticule.com. It’s a good read and definitely worth your time.

- Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will definitely be a more realistic games then casual shooters
- Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising’s AI is very, very smart
- Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising runs beautiful in it’s current state, and is well-optimized at this moment.
- Red barrels are found as an bugger to realism

I am now Twitter enabled
After a long time avoiding it I finally gave into it’s mass media usefulness. I think it would be nice to have a central area other then facebook which is far to crowded with minigames and toys then really what it should have been. Twitter to me is facebook minus everything but status updates. The #1 reason I joined is mail chimp keeps hounding me to update my facebook and twitter with each e-mail I send. I figured, “hell here is another way I can keep you guys in the loop” – It doesn’t hurt me any, and provides yet another benefit to those whom may be one of the 1,000,000 twitter users. So from now on I will be posting as soon as a e-mail goes out a tweet on the news update.
That and any other cool things I’m doing I’ll post as tweets, things I can’t make a post for or are away from IRC for.
I think in the end I am going to focus on making twitter a place for personal fans, unrelated to OFP2 but people whom just like me. I wouldn’t mind making some good buddies I can carry over into the future. I don’t know how long the media angle will last until it becomes spammy. I don’t know (never used twitter before) so we will see

OFP2 Promo from the press’ prespective – Fort Knox
Posted on IRC moments ago from the forums. Is a inside look of OFP: DR from the presses perspective at “Fort Knox”. Weirdest press conference I’ve ever seen. It starts with a fake door guard, crazy guy decked out in camo and stickers and some silly stickers on a TV and shirts. Weird styled building with what looks like a super adhoc meeting room. The video ends with a airsoft match. Hopefully it wins over the media
Enjoy:
# UPDATE

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (OFP:DR) System Requirements
— Correction to system spec —
Hi all,
Some of you may have seen some specs posted around the Internet for the PC version of the game. I’ve been informed that these are not currently correct and are based on old un-optimized versions of the PC code.
Once the PC code has been fully optimized, we will be releasing the definitive minimum & recommended specs.
Expect the final requirements to be lower than what you might have previously seen.

FragLand Interview 13/08/09
Found today by Zensuji
– Can you tell us something more about the multiplayer? And about the Co-op mode?
There will be no offline multiplayer, nor an offline co-op mode. Online you can play the co-op mode with up to four friends.
This seems to indicate that there may be no LAN option in the game itself.
Edit:
Hi all,
It’s not often I post directly to the forums but I spotted this and wanted to stop you guys from worrying about this.
When Sion said no offline he meant no split screen. We are fully supporting LAN/System link on console as well as on PC for not only the single player co-op campaign but also the multiplayer PVP.
I hope this clears up this issue.
Thanks

OFP:DR editor’s manual to reach 250 pages
Today a few moments ago, Helios finally dropped the news about the editors documentation to the broader public.
Obviously the game will come with an instructions manual, and PC owners will also have a digital help file on the DVD with instructions and guidelines on how to use the mission editor.
I think the current WIP version once expanded out clocks in at over 250 pages
To be able to use the editor you won’t need to learn the whole manual as it’s pretty easy to create simple missions. However, to fully take advantage of the lua scripting possiblities you might need to investigate the document further
This Documnetation will be a nice change from the old world of having to collect by hand and trial and error all the codes/hooks for scripting in OFP1/ARMA. With LUA depending on how it runs deep modders should be able to mod there own functions (script tags moveTo(X,Y,Z)). As noted simple map makers can do there work by dragging and dropping. Helios is just making note that the power is there for thoes who can and will harness it.
This is great news for modders!

Question and Answer with Tim Brown
Thanks to community member Shaz73, A new Question and Answer session with Tim Brown (Senior game designer) was found on www.411mania.com.
A total of 5 questions where asked to Tim Brown. Most info will sound familiar for most of you, but it’s still worth a read:
Q. An inevitable question – how did you approach providing the sim-like qualities of the PC original and adapt that for consoles keeping the essential elements that make it Operation Flashpoint?
A. We wanted to keep key elements from the original such as the one bullet kills to vital organs, a huge game world, sandbox gameplay and lots of weapons, equipment and vehicles for the player to play with. Some of these points were fairly trivial to have on a console however we’re incredibly proud of Codemasters own EGO engine technology behind Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and its very impressive 220km² playable island and the 30km draw distance.
Tim Browne also stated “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a good game in its class, but did in no way affect Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising”
The original post from Shaz73 can be found here

Prologue: Skira Island
Found by Hero ZaRiF215 is a new official video detailing the events leading up to the oil crisis, Chinese militarization and subsequent engagement with the US and Russian forces on Skira. It’s a great video with great production value, it is highly recommended that you watch this when you get the chance.
After oil crisis that leads to a more aggressive government. The conflict begins with a build-up of of military forces along the border between Russia and China. Needing the reserves to stabilize the country, on May 9th 2011, China takes Skria in a aggressive sweep. After a failure in negotiations Russia fear all out war and requests US assistance Forces deploy May 12th 2011 2:30
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising – Begins.

UPDATE
Helios confirms that “It’s the intro video to the campaign in the game”. Leading presumption is that the helicopter hitting the screen will play into the SF forces helicopter starting its landing on the island.

No info this week – CM to Release a thick new OFP2 Promo
This a Update on the New hands-on information delayed to next week news story.
I talked to Helios today about hands on information that was previously intended to be released last week (and was subsequently was postponed for internal review). It was hopeful that the hands on information (that was coming in the form of text and possibly pictures) would be released this week, but that is no longer the case.
Great news though, the reason behind this is that Codemasters’ is now rolling Helios‘ hands on with a great amount of new content, to create a thick new OFP2 Promo. It looks like from what what I hear, text and other media content. It’s being created at the caliber of a “official promotional release”, however It is unknown exactly what is in the promo. With at title I expect it to be good; as I have been told it’s has a large amount of worth while content, as well this release is expected also to go to major media sites. So we should see a massive quality increase as it jumps from a ‘community promotional release’ to a “official promotional release”.
It is expected sooner then later this month. No official date has been given to the public. The postponement is now is due the creation and acquiring of “other media” content for the promo.
On a side note, this will also be a good first look of what Codemasters advertisement department style and what is considered a larger release. This will also perhaps mark the start of the promised ‘Advertisement Blitz’ leading into OFP2’s release – Fingers Crossed!

Once again AlexVesten (community artist extraordinaire) pulls though for the OFP2 community once again. Contracted by Sir. Polaris to “Pimp zee OFP2 Auto” on TrackMania, AlexVesten leaped to the task and in less then 3 days time produced a fine skin for OFP2 racing in TrackMania.
Others have taken it upon them selves to get into the TrackMaina spirit and have created their own custom car skins and affixing a [OFP2] tag to the end of their TrackMania names.

Right now work is being done to get this car ingame. This post will be updated when it is complete.

According to a community agent within the UK media in a email to her handler:
“[The PC Gamer UK] preview is on sale this week so I will get you a copy on Thursday when it is in the building. [I’m] emailing my [contact] on Gamesradar now to see if I can find out when they’ll put it up, but I think it’ll be a while…”
“Right, Gameradar aren’t planning to use the PC Gamer preview because[,] they are doing their own. Should be up within the week”
What this means to us:
What this means to us is hopefully two new previews and a scan by Friday. More news as it develops will be found here and IRC.

In return for this generosity I offered to provide general advertisement on the two sites I operate on as well as to introduce and improve their general image in the OFP2 community.

Germany OFP:DR Community sends open letter to OFP Brand Manager – Andrew Wafer
To my surprise today I found a alert sent to me today via PM to a open letter to brand manager Andrew Wafer. It’s a basic letter from the German community expressing the strain we are feeling in the English community but with the difficulty’s unique to the German community. Please excuse any errors from translation.
