Helios just announced that the official release date (Yes, A date, not a period) will be announced on the upcoming Friday, in the early morning, to be precise. Helios also told us there’ll be a new video, showing the Armoury of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Helios also promised us a brand new set of screenshots. To “Get a whet appetite” Helios also posted 2 new screenshots.

PLA – Type95 self propelled anti-aircraft gun, viewed through binoculars

US – Abrams M1A2 main battle tank, with AH1Z Super Cobra attack helicopter in air
Full size screenshots can (of course) be found on Flickr.
Hero FCOPZ-Illuminator found us a new screenshot, originally posted on the german site “www.esl.eu/de” as exclusive screenshot.
Shortly after the announcement on Operation Flashpoint’s Twitter page, the new screenshots where published.
Helios also made us aware about an upcoming video, Coming at the 3rd of July called “Fear and Anticipation”
Thanks to Heroes member adireflex for making us aware about the new screenshots. They have been archived in the OFP2 Flickr account and are viewable full size there.
If you look carefully in this picture provided by RedD you can see that seating arrangements for the front and rear of the vehicle is different. In the front, like in the real vehicle, it can hold 4 in the cab. In the rear it holds 16. Previous to OFP:DR in ARMA and OFP1 both front and back where filled in order by who entered first.
This finding looks interesting as it may lead to the moddablity of different ‘transport zones‘. With this I presume you could zone left/right side of a ship, or “Cargo, front, back ” of a large plane. Perhaps this could be even exstended to zoning drop pods in a giant mech, rather then say “Hop in back” – you could say “Hop in Pod1″. Regardless of sheer arcade nature of that picture, I think this is worth while noting as this opens a few doors and at the very least gets the mind going about the possibilities of OFP:DR.
Helios just posted the promised second exclusive community screenshot on the codemasters Operation flashpoint: Dragon Rising Forums.
