Today has seen a very quiet and mild activity within the OFP: DR Forum Community, Why you ask?

Early this morning a member of the community figaRo, informed us to a possibility along with Helios’s posts last week that there maybe New Previews, Interviews And Videos coming to us shortly.

We can satisfyingly confirm these statements thanks to IGN’s New Video And Interview released moments ago.

The Video boasts all new, never seen in-game explosive material named “Ground Battle”. The Interview featuring Sion Lenton, Codemasters executive producer boasts a good set of Questions and Answers.

Although these new media articles are released to much hype and debate, a unique feature to this video is the possibility of a pushed back release date. At the end of this video a release date of Autumn 2009 is displayed.

Dev Update:

As development of the game enters its final stages, Sion Lenton, Dragon Rising’s executive producer, talks with IGN on how the project is progressing. This articles title: “The dev team talks about nearing its goal and targeting an autumn release.” suggests it is official for a Autumn release. This article is in Q and A format with the following questions being asked:

Speculation coming out of Codemasters today in regards to the OFP2 release date. Reported today at VG247.com:

Codemasters got a little more specific on the release date of Operation Flashpoint 2 this morning, telling VG247 the sequel will release this summer.

“Flashpoint is currently slated officially as “Summer 2009,” said a rep, adding that the firm couldn’t be “any more precise than that right now.”

The game was down for a “2009″ date up to now.

The military sim was fully announced last year. It was originally planned for “winter” 2008, but was moved into 2009 in July.

Codemasters itself is developing the game, after dropping Bohemia Interactive, the creator of the first title.

To put this in perspective, this information doesn’t look like anything new. To me this looks like a off wind reply given by a CM spokesperson to VG247 at comic con. As it stands the date was is noted for Spring 2009. The statement “The game was down for a “2009″ date up to now” doesn’t seem correct based on the information we have received on the forums. We have known for at least 5 months that a spring 2009 date was set as immovable. To me the information posted by VG247 seems conflicting to everything we have known about the release date. To me it looks like they are working with old information pre-November 2008.
