This new interview found by hero member illuminator reveals some new information, mainly that of multiplayer. One of my personal bugbears was the ranking system but it wont be to the extent of unlockables which should be fine for now:
Just found by JoeAcorn, is a new preview/interview it looks like from GamesStar TV. I have no idea whats in it as I don’t pay GameStar to watch online videos. If you got a account check it out and let us know what it like (Forums, IRC, Twitter, OFP2.org Comments).
#Update During the typing of the e-mail and making of this news post Shaz (The media bloodhound and local street dealer) was informed of this video. He is now ‘acquiring it’ and attempting to upload.
- Can you tell us something more about the multiplayer? And about the Co-op mode? There will be no offline multiplayer, nor an offline co-op mode. Online you can play the co-op mode with up to four friends.
This seems to indicate that there may be no LAN option in the game itself.
It’s not often I post directly to the forums but I spotted this and wanted to stop you guys from worrying about this.
When Sion said no offline he meant no split screen. We are fully supporting LAN/System link on console as well as on PC for not only the single player co-op campaign but also the multiplayer PVP.
Found by Dk3DKnight earlier today was an interview which seemed to outline a few nice small pieces of information, none of which are massively effective but we do seem to have a small snippit (Below) which “could” and I repeat could mean they are still considering making a map editor for the consoles:
VideoGamer.com: What’s the latest on the mission editor? As far as I’m aware it’s PC only. Is there any chance it might come to the console versions as well?
TB: “It’s something we made a decision about a long time ago when we realised how difficult it was on the console. Never say never, but it’s a very tricky point.”
I’ll repeat that:
TB: In that respect, yep, it is a bit of a niggly point that the console gamers are annoyed with. Unfortunately it’s something we can’t do anything about at the moment. But never say never.
Still take as a pinch of salt but we can still cross our fingers and hope.
“A few weeks back I went to see Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising at Codemasters HQ. While I was there I had a chat with executive producer Sion Lenton, who had quite a lot to say about Codemasters’ take new on the military shooter. What follows is my transcript of that conversation, in which Lenton talks about the balance of realism in the game, the “documentary” feel, the horror of war, and responsibility of making a serious war game accessible to the majority of gamers.”
Although the actual interview seems to have a few inconsistencies regarding the current information we know. There is one part that has some new information regarding achievements.
Snippit
But there is an achievement for exploration in the game, but Tim is staying tight-lipped on that one.
“Even doing something like flying around the island could take ages. There is an achievement based around flying around something, but I’m not going to say what because I don’t want to spoil that, but that’s something you can achieve in about five minutes rather than nine hours. Because, if it took me nine and a half hours to do that, I would expect to get the full 1000 points, to be honest.”
Today has seen a very quiet and mild activity within the OFP: DR Forum Community, Why you ask?
Early this morning a member of the community figaRo, informed us to a possibility along with Helios’s posts last week that there maybe New Previews, Interviews And Videos coming to us shortly.
We can satisfyingly confirm these statements thanks to IGN’s New Video And Interview released moments ago.
The Video boasts all new, never seen in-game explosive material named “Ground Battle”. The Interview featuring Sion Lenton, Codemasters executive producer boasts a good set of Questions and Answers.
Although these new media articles are released to much hype and debate, a unique feature to this video is the possibility of a pushed back release date. At the end of this video a release date of Autumn 2009 is displayed.
