Game updates

Here are the latest updates on the game development itself:

Patch’s:

A lot of you have asked about a patch for the game and I can confirm that we do have one currently in development.

I can’t give out any details regarding a fix list or a release date at the moment, but please keep on adding your feedback to the console bugs/game issues thread, as I am passing these on to the dev team.

As soon as I have more info confirmed to me, I will make sure I inform the forum asap.

Server issues:

I’ve noticed a few threads created by people having problems connecting/finding games online.

Just wanted to quickly reassure you that I’ll make sure to do some investigating tomorrow when I am back in the office and provide you all with update regarding the situation.

Apologies to anyone who’s experienced problems.

Sing, song and maybe some rhyme?

Besides from the very odd tuvan throat singing in the game here is what olly has to say regarding the songs in the game + song downloads.

Many thanks to Olly and the sound team guys for putting together this brilliant music pack! Thanks again to Olly for writing the below as well .

Tuvan throat singing? There were definitely a few raised eyebrows when it was first suggested that we wanted this style of music to grace our game, after all it’s not your typical war game music. Then again OFP DR is not your typical war game so we felt we wanted our choice of music to really stand out.

During development we all lived with this piece of music in the menu to see how it sat, Immediately it struck a chord, it’s full of sorrow and is not a gung ho orchestral motivational piece, it really gave the game an ominous feeling and combined with the random radio chatter (well done to those that spotted it) kept you wanting to hear more.

Eventually we needed to get some proper music in before we started showing the game to the press and the public, we had worked with Christian Marcussen before and knew he had the talent to deliver, Christian composed a piece of music that invoked all the same feelings of Fly Fly My Sadness and also combined that with a more western feel to give OFP DR a truly unique sound.

On many occasions we took this game to universities and had students, professionals and even forum members visit Codemasters, everyone wanted to sit and listen to the whole piece to the end and was very taken back by such “different” music, it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea but at least we hope that for some people it’s given them those same feelings we had when we first heard it.

Also we have put together for you a pack of music loops from all of our trailers, we’d love to hear them being used on films you make and posted on youtube! Thanks to Mark Willot for taking the time to make these available in such a useful format.

Enjoy.

Message from sion

3995348132 36c3a013fe Message from sion

So, we are released! Our baby is on its own in the big wide world. It’s been quite a journey involving many, many man months of hard work. A few thanks are in order. First of all I have to thank one of the most talented and surely the hardest working team I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, I’d also like to thank all of the support teams at Codemasters for their help and expertise. Final thanks as well to you the community, for your unflinching support over the past couple of years.

The team have been eagerly reading the reviews and all your feedback on the forums and we’ve been very pleased with how the games been received, especially by console users. One of my main goals on this project was to introduce console gamers to this genre and get them excited about the possibilities of actually having to think about their actions in combat. I feel we have achieved this and I feel we are at the beginning of a very exciting journey for the Flashpoint series, We’re already prototyping new features and our Ego tech moves forwards in leaps and bounds – watch this space!

I know that our PC user base is clamouring for more features already, and we are not oblivious to your pleas! We have DLC, patches and title updates all due out (in weeks rather than months) and we are also collating all feedback regarding any issues discovered, so please keep on posting your bug reports in the tech help forum.

So to conclude, its been an epic journey for everyone on the team, trust me, you will never know how challenging this game was to develop. Blood, sweat and tears have flown regularly in the studio, now let champagne flow, we’re all going out to celebrate!!!

All the best, see you on the Battlefield

Sion

Apologies

As above I do believe some apologising is needed as we havn’t made the time recently to update this website. But now that I (Tyro) have awoke from my flashpoint enduced coma I believe that I now have an obligation to start updating this site again.

So starting from today I will be updating to current + more based on release from codemasters themselves.

It’s now 15 hours till first release!

batten down the hatches! Tons of information to come. If your friends are not on the mailing list – there is no better time to get them on board! I will be getting my moneys worth on this mailing list with new information in the next few days.

Heres comes the rain!
Tek-9 (Hardcore Movie)

[Helios]

“This is the second community made movie by Paul “agour” Richardson of Reason Gaming. After a very cool sniper movie he now highlights the hardcore mode of this game in a nice sneak peak into the game which is released October 9th in the UK. “

Section 0:30-0:33 shows that kamikaze knife attacks tend not to be too successful in this game! Very ruthless takedown by the AI on show there”

Personally this video to me screams CS:S/Halo  due to it being a simple video, little structure, how the person plays the game, what the filmer chooses to show us in the video and the light blasts and speed up blur. Reminds me of the ‘1337 kill3r’ knife stabbing videos. Regardless of that it’s a ok video there are some key features: a gun fights, a suicidal knife run against a AI and javelin launch and death camera. On the plus side after (what I think was a poor animation of) some explosive gas tanks blowing up. You get to see a marine become Marine soup to me Highlight of the whole video. Just ignore the animations :D
